Bill
and Kathy's South American Adventure (and honeymoon...)
The
trip was nine days starting at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. In Copa we had the good fortune of finding an outstanding
old hotel right in the middle of the 2.2 kilometer beach. It was
low season with few tourists and no crowds on the beaches and
the temperature was 72 degrees most of the week.
The
hotel had so much character and charm that they were filming a
movie in the hotel while we were there.

One
of the outstanding attractions of Rio is Corcovado and the Statue
of Christ the Redeemer at its peak. We visited this largest statue
of Christ in the world on an absolutely spectacularly clear day.

On
Friday, we flew to Iguassu Falls in western Brazil. The falls
are at the junction of the borders of three countries: Brazil,
Argentina, and Paraguay. Friday evening we slipped across the
border for an outstanding steak dinner in Puerto Iguassu, Argentina.

Saturday
morning there was very heavy fog and our guides took us on a visit
to the largest bird park in South America.

By
mid-day, we made the tour of the largest waterfalls in the Western
Hemisphere.

Satuday
afternoon we headed into Paraguay and on to its capitol, Asuncion.

Kathy
carried this wedding bouquet all the way from Montgomery, Alabama,
to Rio, to Iguassu Falls, to Asuncion and back.
